I have a workbook with 3 worksheets. I am trying to delete 2 of the three but "Delete Sheet" is grayed out in both the "Edit" menu and RtMouseClick menu. The sheets are not protected and the workbook is shared. Do I have to un-share the workbook in order to delete sheete? If so.. how do I do this?

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
It sounds like you have Track Changes turned on.

If you go to Tools > Track Changes > Highlight Changes...

is anything checked? If so, this is your problem.

Go to Tools > Shared Workbook. Uncheck the Allow changes box, then click okay. You'll then be able to do as you please with the worksheets.

I'm having the same problem. I've resaved under a new name, checked my format save, and made sure workbook is "unprotected"...no luck...TC

UPDATE: Removing the "track changes" worked - thank you!!!

Since I did not see an answer that helped me I thought I would post here. The following is what resolved my situation in Excel 2010.

- Click "Review" on the Ribbon, and then click on "Share Workbook" in the "Changes" section
- Uncheck the first box with text such as "Allow changes by more than one user [...]"
- Click OK

After taking these steps my issued was resolved. If you need sharing to be enabled I'm not sure how to help as in my case I didn't care.
