Default Copy sheet to new instance of excel

I have a program that exports data to excel but doesn't load an excel add-in that i need. So, i need to open a new instance of excel which loads the add-in fine, and copy the sheet over to the new instance.

I have scoured the message boards for a solution and found ideas, but can't seem to get anything to work for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Andrew,

I assume the same goes for a range of cells? I am able to copy first instance to clipboard and paste in second instance. Seems odd that this can't be automated or partly automated with VBA.

You can copy a range of cells to another instance of Excel just like you can copy it to another application, e.g. Word or Powerpoint. But the result will not be the same s copying within the same instance. For example formulas won't be copied.

The data is exported in .TXT format and can remain in that format. I need to copy Range("a1:z30") to a new instance of excel. If this is possible, I would appreciate any help of direction.

Why do you need two instances? Can't you just open the exported workbook in the same instance?

I export data from a client database to excel. It exports the data in txt format. For some reason when they launch excel, there is an Add-In that does not load. I need the Add-In to further manipulate the data. I can open excel on its own and the Add-In is there. I don't know how the other program launches excel, but it is missing the Add-In, hence the reason I need to copy range to a new instance that has the Add-In.

Can't you open txt file in the instance of Excel that has the Add-In installed?

No. The program loads excel itself and exports the data directly. I have no control over it.
