I'm trying to create a Taylor Diagram using excel and I'm looking to see if someone knows where I can obtain a template and/or instructions on how to do it.

Any help is much appreciated.

Excel Facts

Copy PDF to Excel
Select data in PDF. Paste to Microsoft Word. Copy from Word and paste to Excel.
Hi,

Do you mean one of these?

The picture in my post was created by me in Excel.

It is currently only what you see. It will need some refining to make it usable by a user. I am not sure whether users would prefer to enter commands into the VB Editor or whether they would be happier to fill in rows in a worksheet. If they would prefer a customized userform then that might be a leter development.

I just wanted to be sure that I was working on exactly the right diagram.

How would you like to enter the data into the chart?
How much flexibility do you need for things like scaling, number of arcs and number of rays etc?

If someone discovers a pre-existing one then by all means use that.

Regards,

Rick,

That's great to hear. Thanks for your help with this.

In terms of entering commands, it would best to see things laid on a worksheet so all of the logic in the formulas can easily be traced. It would be great if there was some flexibility and ability to toggle the number or arcs, rays, etc.

Hi,

Assume I know nothing about these charts and you will be quite close to the truth. :)

I know they show 3 variables but because they are related you only need two degrees of freedom on the chart. So, presumably, you only supply two values to display a point? If so, which two values are supplied, please?

OK, I am going for Standard Deviation and Correlation.

See the current version at the link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/jh0tbtyss8w5hd3/TaylorChart preview.xlsm?dl=0

Hi Rick,

Hope you had a good July 4th weekend.

Do I need to run any macros in a certain sequence to produce a new chart? I'm trying to see how the values on the worksheet tie to the data points in the chart.

Hi,

The data table (or form) needs to start in L1.
After that you just need to run the ProcessForm macro.

I went in to File--> Options--> Customize Ribbon

Then, Choose commands from: Macros
Then added ProcessForm into a new group.

After that you can just click on an icon on the ribbon to create a new chart.

I don't know how much of that survived Dropbox but there may be a cloud icon already there but you may need to re-assign the macro.

However, that is personal choice - you can run it how you like.

I feel I have to ask: Could your place of work be said to be associated with a large rock?

Other points: It works with the ActiveSheet. So you can add as many sheets as you like and, as long as the data is in the same format as Sheet1, ProcessForm will produce a chart on that sheet.

Oh, about 4th July - my side lost :)
