What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
On a separate sheet from where you want the list to appear, type in your numbers in, say, cells A1:A10. Select the cells and name them MyList (say). On the sheet select the cell(s) where you want the drop-down to appear and click on Data-Validation. Change the Allow to 'List' and in the source box, type in =MyList.

Edit: To change the values in the list simply type in a new value in your orignial list.

Hope this is OK.
