I'm trying to trend out some numbers. I have two sets of numbers: The first we can call a "local" projection and the second we can call a "national" projection.

For the national projection I know all 3 numbers: Low, Medium, High
For the local projection I know only 1 number: Low

I would like to use the TREND/FORECAST function to predict what the Medium and High numbers are for Local. Is this possible? Also not sure if it matters, but the High number is the more important one to know because if I know that, I can interpolate the Medium as the 50th percentile between the Low and High.

The table below depicts what I'm trying to do with the 'X's representing what I need to use the TREND/FORECAST function to predict.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Hi wring,

why would you need a TREND or forecast formula... In your example I would simply use: E2: =A2/B2*C2 and F2: =A2/B2*D2

Ciao,
