how to convert letter to number and vice versa

Hi guys, how do I convert 4 to April or vice versa?

4 to April
A1 = 4
=TEXT(DATE(1,A1,1),"mmmm")

April to 4
B1 = April
=MONTH(1&B1)

With 4 in cell A1, in B1 enter:

=DATE(2000,A1,1)

and format that cell as "mmmm"

with April in cell A1, in B1 enter:

=MONTH(DATEVALUE("1" & A1 & 1965))

Also this way (eliminating one function call)...

=TEXT(28*A1,"mmmm")

I've seen that several times now, and keep forgetting it.

Oh I'm sorry guys I asked the wrong question! Though this isnt a waste, I needed to ask this as well.

But the one I wanted to know was how to convert a letter to a number and vice versa. So E = 5, 26 = Z etc


Btw how do you guys put up an avatar? I cant see a way.

Letter to Number
-------------------------------
=CODE(A1)-64


Number to Letter
-------------------------------
=CHAR(A1+64)
