How can I insert a picture, (typically a jpg), as data into an Excel cell? Thanks for your help!

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
What do you mean "as data"? If you want to convert a picture into cells of data...you are looking at a very tuff problem.

I'm creating a simple db in Excel, granted not the ideal way to do this, but I'm short on time. What I am attempting to do is to create a spreadsheet that has a picture ID number in one column, followed by an image description in column two and a jpg image in column three. The way I'm doing this currently is just to insert a picture on top of the spreadsheet (instead of inside the cell which is what I want to do as it is in MS Word tables). Ideally, this is a prefect application for a relatinal db. That will have to come later.

To answer your question, yes I would like to know if pictures, i.e. jpg's specifically, can be inserted into a cell, rather than on top of the preadsheet, then adjusting the row height and column widths to accommodate the image and spacing, etc.

No. Use Access. You can embed OLE objects into an Access database. Excel is not made to handle this.

This may help you get started
