A registered XLL not working

We are collaborating with another office and using some add-ins (xlls) that they produced. We can get the XLL's registered - - however when using some of these spreadsheets that call functions within the XLLs, we get #NAME? in the cells with these formulas. We CAN get them to work by going to each cell, editing the cell, and then press enter. Then it is quite happy to use the function as designed. But we can't get ALL of the forumulas to automatically recalculated. We have to go to EACH cell and do this, which is quite time consuming. Any idea why these functions will not automatically calculate? We can see in the System Info under Help/About Microsoft Excel that they XLLs are loaded in memory. Maybe a rights issue? I am out of ideas.

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
This is an issue that happens in some situations that I've never been able to get a bead on exactly why.

In any case, to save time you can use a find/replace trick to save time and refresh all the formulas, rather than editing the cells one at a time.
Just select the cell/range/column/worksheet of interest and do a find (ctrl + h) on an equals sign, and then replace with another equals sign. This seems to provoke a recalc of each formula.

Find: =
Replace With: =
