Probably an easy question, but I have a date field in a query that I want to display as the first day of the month for each record so that when I export to excel all the dates for November will show as 11/1/2017 etc. any help is appreciated.

Press F7 to start spell check in Excel. Be careful, by default, Excel does not check Capitalized Werds (whoops)
I don't know access well, but this is how I would do it in excel...
=EOMONTH(date-field,-1)+1

I know some functions are similar, perhaps that will get you started?
