I want multiple users to be able to use the Access 2013 DB at the same time.

What I've tried:
Database is split
Options/Client Settings/Advanced Default Open Mode: Shared
I have different file types all with the same problem:
1. .accdb file
2. .accde file
3. .accde shortcut

I've done this before and I split the database and users opened the .accde file with their Access readers (though some have full Access version). It worked just fine. I've compared the settings on that file and this and can't find the culprit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Excel Facts

Excel Can Read to You
Customize Quick Access Toolbar. From All Commands, add Speak Cells or Speak Cells on Enter to QAT. Select cells. Press Speak Cells.
there used to be a site called applecore99 which had a routine that had a timer built in. If you created a file then every tine a db was opened it would check every so often the file, if the file was removed it forced the database to close.

Its a long while back, but I will try and see if it is in my archives somewhere

Another thing...
Are you giving each user their own copy of the front-end?
They should not all be using the same one.

you should have exclusive access to the back end, and send the users (let them copy) the front end. Three users and you don't know who had it open. I had several dozen users over 70 sites, and my IT department couldn't tell me, hence implementing the lock out

File identified, written 2008 in MSAccess 2003 and I really have forgotten how to work with it

I guess check for a lock file in the same directory as the back end - if its there delete it. Generally as long as the database is set up with the open mode as shared then it should be capable of concurrent use.
