Max ID Query to Remove Duplicates

Hi, I'm having trouble structuring this query properly. I have a table that could contain duplicate [EMPLOYEE_ID]'s, but want to eliminate these duplicates to only pull the latest record which could be determined from the [ID] field. I'd also like to pull back other reference fields with it. All of the fields in the table are as follows:

[tbl_GUARANTEES]

[ID]
[EMPLOYEE_ID]
[GUARANTEE_START_DATE]
[GUARANTEE_END_DATE]
[GUARANTEE_AMOUNT]
[MODIFIED_BY]
[MODIFIED_DATE]

Something like

SELECT tbl_GUARANTEES.*
FROM (SELECT Max(ID) AS MAXID FROM tbl_GUARANTEES GROUP BY Employee_ID)  AS FindMaxID INNER JOIN tbl_GUARANTEES ON FindMaxID.MAXID = tbl_GUARANTEES.ID
