I have a Split form based on a query. In the header I added a Combo Box. I use the Combo Box selection in the criteria of my query [Forms]![frmQuoteStatus]![Combo84_BidStatus]

If I go to my query and refresh it runs the query and limits the results as it should.

my problem is with my form and the combo box. When I am on the form, I can see the list in my combo box, I can even select something. But that's it. once I select something, I cannot leave the combo box. its like its stuck in it. I can tab out of it or anything else. I need to delete what I selected in the combo box in order to get out of the combo box.

Any ideas what I did wrong?

That seems quite odd to me - why you would not be able to move off of the control after choosing a list item. Maybe the combo is bound but the form is not updatable for some reason, unless you throw in a wild card. You don't bind controls that provide search criteria, but you probably already know that, so to me, it's quite odd.
