I am trying to see my query in Design View, but its only coming up in SQL (I am clicking Design View not SQL View).

I'm not that good at SQL so I need to see it in Design view. Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
All of my queries are like this. They all will only show in SQL View.

After I updated the Linked Tables (Tables are in a Back end) the queries let me view them in Design view.

There are certain types of queries (like Union Queries) that can only be seen in SQL View because there is not a way to display them in Design View.
However, these would have needed to be created in SQL View in the first place.

Did you create these Queries?
If so, did you create them via Design View?
If so, did you edit them in SQL View after the fact at all?
Or, did you make any changes to any of the underlying objects (Tables & Queries) used in the Query?

Maybe try creating a real simple new Query in Design View, saving, closting, and then try re-opening in Design View and see if you are able to do that.

Yes, I created all the queries.

Some were designed/created in SQL using VBA but others were not. As stated above, once I refreshed the Table Links (to a Back End database) the problem went away. I could then see all the queries in design Mode.

OK. As long as you have it working now, that is all that matters.

it makes sense since the query designer needs information about the tables to provide field names and data types for the designer.
