FORM n00bie question

I'm a complete n00b to access and have a simply question.

I have 2 tables one for entering orders. The other had a list of model codes with the description at the side.
On a form i have created the drop down list for the model code, now my problem is I would like the description to automatically fill in using the model code above

Is your plan to have the description fill in on the order table? If so, this is not the way to go, as it goes against most database theory by duplicating entries between tables!

the model table is a list of all codes with a description so if this was excel on the order tab i would do a vlookup to find the description using the model book code entered. But i want this to show on the form when inputting new orders so who ever is keying it in can see the description so they know its the one they want.

In that case, I think you can simply have a child form within your main one that simply shows description

You can use DLookup to look up the description also.

I would probably bring in the description along with the model code, and refer to the column number of that field for the text box on the form if you need to use the model code.
Normally I would use the description in the drop down and populate the model code behind the scenes, providing the descriptions were sufficient to identify the correct code?
Alternatively combine code and description in the dropdown?
