Which of these measures is preferred?

EVALUATE

Thank you for your response. BTW, for 3.5 years I commuted to Melbourne from Atlanta every month.
As I read the "Italian" preference, I think they would go the other way which surprised me. I have run timings and only see differences within the repeated measurement error. Maybe Matt will weigh in.

No problem.
I think the reason for their preference is readability rather than performance (which I assume is identical).
With a function like CALCULATE which interacts with filter context (and row context if present) in a special way, it is best for the code to explicitly show that it is being called.
But opinions may differ on this one :)
