Hi all,

Hope all is well

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I have recently started with Power BI, previously relying on Microsoft Query to pull data into Excel to manipulate.

Looking for any guidance to getting Power BI set up to replace / refresh Microsoft Queries.

In principle I see two options:

1. [Ideal] Transplant & update the Microsoft Query code into Power BI, update and appropriate and draw down directly from the data source into the data model.

2. Make a connection between Power BI and Microsoft Query, essentially Power BI refreshes Microsoft Query and draw in the data through a chain.

I'd appreciate any thoughts / guidance on how to achieve this ?

Thanks in advance!

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
MS Query is dead as disco.
If your source data is not normalized....Transform your data with Power Query (instead of MS Query). It's fairly easy to learn and we're here to help.

Dead as disco. I figured as much!

In terms of getting the SQL connection from MQ to PBI is this a straight forward task?

Thanks,
