I have a monthly report that I have to transform and load into an existing table (I remove columns, etc and the raw data is always the same).

I have an existing PQ table that I've transformed into a table that I use for commissions.

How do I import new reports into the existing PQ table so I can update the existing table?

I'm copying the new raw data into the PQ upload sheet. Then I go to the transformed tab and press refresh button to download the PQ data into transformed table.

Is there a more direct way of importing the new data into PQ?

thank you for your help in advance,

Michael

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
It's usually a good practice to try to get your data as close to the "source" as possible. If you can't connect directly to the database you're getting your data from, have it dumped in a folder and use that as your data source. The less there are manual steps, the smaller the risk of human error.

Unfortunately, you can't have Power Query to update only the new data on top of the existing one but at the same time that's also one of Power Query's major strengths.

(theory)
maybe try keep all reports in one folder then use From Folder, Append, transform as you wish.
it should work for new report and if you remove any report

Thats what I was trying to remember - about the folder.

Each month I would like to append the my table by importing the next file. I remember watching videos on this but I forgot how to import them. Do I just point to a folder and import the new data into PQ? I was trying to find the YouTube tutorials on this because I know it can be done.

assumption: all reports are in the same format (structure and data)

then:
(depending on the version of Excel but it's similar)
fromfolder.jpg

the rest is up 2 u

edit:
if you are still confused, look here: From Folder
