Hi all,

I'm hoping someone has come across this and has a fix for me :)

I'm extracting data from several files, each file has the same structure and I'm pulling multiple tables (but not stored as tables) from 20+ sheets in each.

While all source files are closed the execution takes roughly:

  • 2s for one file
  • 5s for four files

However while the source files are open the execution takes roughly:
  • 2m for one file
  • 30m for four files

I can't really investigate further in work as I don't have access to download additional tools, but will try when I'm home.

Does anyone here have any advice to help point me in the right direction?

Author John Walkenbach was Mr Spreadsheet until his retirement in June 2019.
I think this is a network issue.

I placed the Source Files on a network drive and ran the query from my PC and I got a similar problem.
