Hi guys,

I have a question. my IT crew installed the new version today. but now I cannot open any workbooks anymore. the addin shows up, but as soon as a try to start the powerpivot window it says “Embedded Analysis Services Engine: Could not load embedded PowerPivot data.” I first thought it would be an issue if upgrading v1 workbooks, but it is not – it starts with any empty workbook. so I cannot even built a new one from scretch.
anyone who had a similar problem – maybe something gone wrong with the upgrade. is there something that needs to be done when installing the new version?
hope anyone could help.

thanks a lot

I've been having the same problems on Windows XP with Excel 2010 and the 2012 PowerPivot add-in. I don't have a real solution for you. It seems a repair or reinstallation of Excel and the PowerPivot add-in may help.

In addition, I currently lose the PowerPivot add-in when I close Excel. To get it back, I have to:

1) Open an existing Excel workbook that uses PowerPivot. I have a very simple workbook with data from an Excel sheet for this purpose.
2) Click on the pivot table and watch the data load.
3) Reactivate the PowerPivot add-in by using File, Options, Add-ins, Com Add-ins, PowerPivot. This step doesn't take unless the active workbook is a PowerPivot.

A bit of black magic. You might also check to make sure all of the other requirements such as .Net 4.0 are also installed. See the PowerPivot installation directions for details.
