Unable to upgrade 2010 SP1 workbook to 2013

Current workbook is on an SP1 installation with hotfix 3 applied so version 11.1.3349.0 which I believe is the last version of the 2012 Powerpivot. When i open the workbook in excel 2013 I get "we found some problem with content" error. If i let it recover it opens the workbook but has removed all the slicers and logs the following sort of changes below. I can then open the data model and perform the upgrade. However if I save and reopen it it is courrupted.
