Hi all,
I've seen quite a few posts of where the data has become corrupt, but I have a case which I just can't get to the bottom of!
I'm on Excel 2012 (14.0.6123.5001) with the Powerpivot (10.50.1747.0) add-in
I have linked to a SQL 2005 table and calculated a few fields within powerpivot, Refreshed my pivot table, saved, closed.
At this point, when re-opening, it will work fine, and I can use it straight away.
I then go back into the underlying powerpivot data, and add a new calculated column (One field (Decimal Number, General) multiplied by another (Whole Number, General)). I already have a similar calculation in the powerpivot data when it worked fine.
So then Refreshing, Saving, Closing and Reopening will now cause an error:
Embedded Analysis Services Engine: Could not load embedded PowerPivot Data
The embedded PowerPivot data is corrupt. You have the following options:
Do Nothing
Attempt to recover the structure of the powerpivot data
delete the powerpivot data and continue using the workbook
Now, if i recover the structure, and refresh both the data and tables, then delete the calculated column that seemed to cause the break. Then Refresh, Save, Close and reopen. It will all go back to working fine!!
I really have no idea why this is happening (The calculation is 100% okay before you ask! its even in other, working powerpivots!), I'd really appreciate any ideas or suggestions to understand the problem,
Thanks
Jack
