ODBC Connection String changes after close

I am connecting Power Pivot to a Pervasive database using a connection string that tests ok and a valid query. The connection works just fine until I save and close Excel. When I re-open and try to refresh the data I receive an error that the connection cannot be made. I check the connection string and it has changed from what I entered. I can re-enter the correct string and the connection test comes back ok. The data still will not refresh using the refresh button on the ribbon. I have to open the table properties and wait for the screen to enter edit mode. Then I can click save and the table will update. I am hoping someone can tell me why the connection string changes when I close Excel.

Excel Facts

Difference between two dates
Secret function! Use =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"Y")&" years"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"YM")&" months"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"MD")&" days"

I was able to find a work around that seems to work.

I have an issue trying to connect powerpivot to a pervasive db using odbc...No LUCK. What does your connection string look like? The error message I receive states that I'm missing a '='.
Thanks
Doug

Thanks for your response but I still get the same error. This is what my connection string looks like...I know...It's a mess but I can't find anything else to put into it or what to modify. It still responds with the missing '='
