    Re: Re-arranging data

The lack of attachments here is what sets this place apart - and I find it equally baffling. Nonetheless, the powers that be insist that they will not allow it, and they don't seem to like anyone...

Re: Find Char (one of) in String

Neither can I, Rick, but it's exactly what I did first time - notice that I edited my post just before you quoted it!!! ;)

Re: Find Char (one of) in String

This works, although it might not be elegant enough for you:

    Excel 2016 (Windows) 32 bit
    <colgroup><col style="width: 25pxpx"><col><col></colgroup><thead>

    A
    B

    </thead><tbody>

  4. Re: Drop-down List - Populate with a different value from the one selected

Not possible. The cell with the drop-down will populate with what is on the drop-down list, but you can get an adjacent cell to show the abbreviation.

I don't know if there is a VBA workaround.

    Re: arrays

So I see! They have (helpfully!) numbered them for us. I wonder if their teacher knows that the tasks have been assigned to us?

OP - please note that you'll be getting no help from me. Not only do...

    I changed A99 to A999 in the formula I gave you in post #11 ... ;)

  8. Re: Formula ? Pull in name from another sheet once ?

You'll need to change the formula to match. Here's my best guess:

    Re: vlookup with multiple results

OK. So, have a look at this. The reason some of the columns are not pulling through is that the headings don't match sheet 1 - you need to make them match for this to work properly. The formula in...

    Re: vlookup with multiple results

Thank you. Before proceeding, is there any other 'filtering' we need to take into account? I know this is all obvious to you.

OK - understood. Please explain why lead #1 is not pulled through for sales rep A.

    Re: vlookup with multiple results

Is there a reason why you can't just do a filter on the sales rep column?

As has already been stated, it works regardless because it is looking for an exact match. Did you try it?

    Re: Formula needed

Assuming that your lookup data is in A1 to B18, and your lookup value of the phone type is in C1, this in C2:

    =VLOOKUP(C1,$A$1:$B$18,2,0)

If your locale is in Europe, you'll need semi-colons...

Re: Why does IF and OR combined not work

    Your formula:

    =IF(A1=OR("A","B"),1,2)

is not syntactically correct. The OR function requires logical statements, hence this:

    =IF(OR(A1="A",A1="B"),1,2)

I think what Mole is suggesting is...
