Re: Access Track Changes to Data

That is a database with an example of an audit trail (tracking changes). See above the suggestion is that you can "rollback" changes by writing queries to work with the audit table to reverse changes...

Re: VBA write data from Excel to Access

The point about addins vs libraries was just that whether you use late binding or early binding you still have dependencies, so avoiding dependencies isn't a reason to prefer one over the other (with...

Re: VBA write data from Excel to Access

Mr Ice, when you say you are pushing data or writing data to Access like this, how much data are you writing? Is "Data Range" a cell, a few rows, or a few hundred rows, or tens of thousands of rows?

Re: VBA write data from Excel to Access

Just FYI Those are not addins. They are the same libraries that are used with late binding. The only difference is whether the binding is early or late.

Re: Cross Tab Query How to Get Distinct Values

using my second two step solution described above, first you preprocess the data to get something that works for the crosstab:

    select
    T.[Service Location Name],
    T.[Date Fulfilled...

Re: Cross Tab Query How to Get Distinct Values

The grouping looks like it won't work that way but it is hard to say because I don't see what is being grouped. However, since you are grouping on fields that aren't in the output it is almost...

Re: Cross Tab Query How to Get Distinct Values

Sounds like it's not working but it's not entirely clear what your sql is doing. You probably should post the query text (and some sample data if possible).
  8. Re: Append table with another table and user input

to use a variable to filter results add a where clause:

    Parameters [Enter CustomerID] Long, [Enter Name] Text ( 255 ), [Enter Month] Text ( 255 );
insert into Table2 (ID, CustomerID, Amount,...
  9. Re: Append table with another table and user input

The raw sql you need is this:

insert into Table2 (ID, CustomerID, Amount, [Name])
    select
    Table1.ID,
    123456 as CustomerID,
    Table1.Total as Amount,
    'John' as Name
    from Table1

Re: Access: Adding Username to Append Query

Just wrap the vba function in a public function in a module:

    Public Function CurrentUser() As String
    CurrentUser = Environ("UserName")
    End Function

Then use it in your query: ...

Try the steps described here first:

(if the broken references are needed then it's enough to...

    Re: Access Annoyance: ComboBox Ordeal

All tables should have primary keys. So if you are using data without a primary key ... well, basically there is no guarantee of correct queries anymore.
  13. Re: Annoying Error When Trying to Reload Excel Database

I'm not familiar with the terms "saving an autoload" or "removing a load". Access has an import wizard. Is it something like that? From my experience with Access you can relink data sources at any...

    Re: Access Annoyance: ComboBox Ordeal

Best in this case would be to find a nearby Access expert to help you. The problem itself can't be resolved without more information - what is the combobox source? How is it linked? What happens on...
  15. Re: Annoying Error When Trying to Reload Excel Database

Hard to say without seeing any data. You probably have some problem in the file or the target table. Don't panic - just start with the basics and work the problem one step at a time. Is the data...
  16. Re: SQL query works in MS Access but doesnt when called from excel VBA

It's possible that qryForwardRecon should also not have non-ADO stuff in it ( a common example is Nz() )
  17. Re: Can query Assign on-or off-quarter based on date value?

I guess you will just put in your where criteria just as stated:

    select * from Table1 where
    (
    (datepart("m", [Project date]) = 3 and datepart("d", [Project date]) = 31)
    or ...
  18. Re: VBA Automation Error - possibly born from my complete lack of understanding with Error Handling

I found a line of code in your code that uses a goto to jump inside an if block inside a for block. I'm not sure that's possible - maybe it won't crash but you probably should not do that (if nothing...
  19. Re: Googled but cannot find - Automate a "Run All" button

Yet another solution is to write a vbscript. A scheduled task then runs the vbscript file (i.e., just point to it just like you would a .bat file or an .exe).

What follows would be the contents...
  20. Re: VBA Automation Error - possibly born from my complete lack of understanding with Error Handling

Hi, just to clarify what is meant by "which requires me to close down the sheets it opened" ... sheets are in a workbook. You don't close sheets, just the workbook. Is there more than one (or more...
  21. Re: VBA Automation Error - possibly born from my complete lack of understanding with Error Handling

Re: Access Fields disapear in Query

If you don't want to show the fields then they don't need to be there unless they are part of join criteria or where criteria. So that is probably expected behavior.
