  1. Re: DAX - Measure (Whole Total for Product and Group) - Context sensitive

    I literally had to go look at what the FILTERS() function was :)

    Typically you will see this as

    Product total:=calculate(sumx(Tabela1;Tabela1[Value]);ALLEXCEPT(Tabela1, Tabela1[Product]))
    or...

    Re: Sorting portfolios based on criterias

    This should be super close:

    =if(tbl1[size] > calculate(MEDIAN(tbl1[size]), FILTER(ALL(tbl1), tbl1[Year] = EARLIER(tbl1[Year]) && tbl1[Exchange] = EARLIER(tbl1[Exchange])), "big", "small")
  4. Re: DISTINCCOUNT where you have two DATA tables is it possible.

    Your syntax looks a bit weird to me (in general) -- as it sorta looks like a pattern for solving many to many problems. That said... if a simple distincount(jobs[Provider_Name]) isn't what you want,...

    Re: How to use Power Pivot

    It is going to depend on the particular model, and you will probably want to totally separate calendar table, and really you should grab Matt or Rob's book... but in general, you will have something...

    Re: Differentiating dates in Power Query

    I still think you could use length... like... an IF statement to make sure it is 7+ characters long?
  7. Re: Assistance needed with 5 year sales projection for manufacturing company

    If you aren't going to do fancy machine learning, I would personally just math it up, and import the results as a static table. So, maybe... manually do a linear regression on sales vs oil price,...
  8. Re: Assistance needed with 5 year sales projection for manufacturing company

    Well, at least it's a pretty cool and fun project... if a bit challenging :)

    To some degree it is probably going to depend on how fancy you want to get with your predictions. If you want to go...
  9. Re: Filter put on measure returning wrong result?

    Out of pure curiosity, do you want to re-write how I would typically do this?

    Total Ext Amount := SUM('Data Warehouse'[Ext Amount])

    KPI 2016 := CALCULATE([Total Ext Amount],
    ...
  10. Re: Filter put on measure returning wrong result?

    For the most part... slicing on a particular dimension should "just work", unless you are missing a relationship (say, between a sales and customer table).

    Looking at your code again:

    KPI...
  11. Re: Filter put on measure returning wrong result?

    Re-reading this, it is not totally clear to me what you are hoping to achieve. If you just leave that clause out what is "wrong" with the output?

    Can you use if [StudentMarker] is null or [StudentMarker] = "" then ?

  14. Re: Filter put on measure returning wrong result?

    So, I would be doing some guessing and checking. Things I would look at:
    * Do you need a RELATED() around the [Customer.Customer Name] ?
    * Do you need to throw a CALCULATE() anywhere -- to convert...
  15. Re: Conditional Recursive Calculation [NEED HELP]

    Just in case you misspoke ...

    Any chance you actually want a simple running total (plus a floor at 0) ? It's not what you said, but at least that is way easier :)

    Re: PowerPivot cannot import data type ()

    Probably early rows had more "int" looking stuff, and it inferred int type. Even without Power Query, I suspect you can just flip the column type to Text, and you will be fine.

  18. Re: Use latest available price to calculate forecast

    A few thoughts:
    * I think things will go better if you have a real date/calendar table
    * I think things will go better if you break the problem up into smaller measures

    Re: conditional sorting

    Assuming we are talking power pivot and such... (and maybe even if not), I would reshape your data so that it is "long, not wide".
