Scientist Spreadsheet CD

Microsoft Excel expert and author Bill Jelen, known as "Mr Excel" to thousands who research tech solutions at his MrExcel.com website, will appear in person at the Irvine Sci-Tech Books on Saturday, August 2 from 11 a.m. to noon. The store is located at 6616 Irvine Center Dr., Sand Canyon Plaza in Irvine.

Jelen will sign copies of his second book, Mr Excel ON EXCEL, considered the indispensable "bible" for accountants and other Excel users. Jelen will also demonstrate the long-awaited CD Excel for Scientists, written by Dr. Gerard Verschuuren as a two-day, self-paced training class for scientists who use Excel, scheduled for release by Holy Macro! Books in spring 2004. Advanced copies will be available for pre-sale.

Anyone who stops by to pre-order the CD or buy a MrExcel book will receive a free copy of Excel Knowledge Base CD-ROM, a $49 value.

Mr Excel ON EXCEL is packed with simple, easy steps that illustrate why he's the go-to expert for taking a 40-minute task down to four seconds in a button click. Jelen has identified over 147 Excel tasks and written a stripped down “how to” for many of the most useful functions—formulas to formatting, charts to cells. It retails for $35.95.

In addition to Mr Excel ON EXCEL, Jelen is the author of Guerilla Data Analysis Using Microsoft Excel (solutions for importing data from a mainframe system)and two CD’s, Holy Macro! It's 1,600 Excel VBA Examples and Excel Knowledge Base, citing 12,750 questions and answers. Jelen also markets an unusual line of humorous gift items for the Excel “guru” in every office: mugs, apparel, and an Excel function wall clock (each numeral represents an Excel function).

MrExcel.com received 10 million page-views in 2002 and has been lauded by thousands of accountants and office managers for solutions-rich content. The five-year-old web portal supplies Excel products, books, utilities, services, tech support and programming service, including a self-help message board with hundreds of archives filled with valuable solutions, often disbursed for free by volunteer gurus.
