How to get rid of a query?

When saving a spreadsheet, I get the following message: "Cannot find XLQUERY.XLA!Register.DClick, which has been assigned to run each time [Oct 03 COPY.xls]Queries is opened. Continuing could cause errors. Cancel opening [Oct 03 COPY.xls]Queries?"

How do I delete the query?

If the query is in Excel, then on the Menu bar, Data > Import External Data > New Database Query.

In the dialog box, select the Queries tab. Click on the offending query, and click Delete in the lower right corner.

However, I'm curious about it being .xla

I looked up "Data" & couldn't find "Import External Query", but go to "Edit" then "Links..." & the query (called "XLQUERY.XLA") is sitting there. But no way to delete it (?)

.xla indicates add-in. Go to Tools > Addins and see if you find it listed there.

Unfortunately I don't have access to Excel 97 (and haven't used it for 2+ years). I suspect that some other posters with more experience/knowledge will be needed at this point. Sorry I couldn't help more.
