Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
VBA Code:
'suppress blue circle
Application.Cursor = xlIBeam

'code doing the calculating goes here

'reinstate cursor settings to default
Application.Cursor = xlDefault

call as a sub
VBA Code:
Sub Test()
'suppress blue circle
BlueCircle False

'code doing the calculating goes here

'reinstate cursor settings to default
BlueCircle True
End Sub

Private Sub BlueCircle(YesNo As Boolean)
With Application
    If YesNo Then .Cursor = xlDefault Else .Cursor = xlIBeam
End With
End Sub

FWIW, if you want to hide the cursor completely, you can use the ShowCursor API function.

The API declaration is:

VBA Code:
#If VBA7 Then
Declare PtrSafe Function ShowCursor Lib "user32" Alias "ShowCursor" (ByVal bShow As Long) As Long
#Else
Declare Function ShowCursor Lib "user32" Alias "ShowCursor" (ByVal bShow As Long) As Long
#end if

then just use Showcursor 0 to hide it and Showcursor 1 to show it again.
