You could help me please, I am creating a spread that counts. How many holidays, and sick days people take I know how to create the formula for a whole day, but how do I count .5 of a day? Formula. I have currently is as follows: COUNTIFS(B27:AL27, "S") this will clearly current as a whole day, but if somebody takes a half how do I denote it? I was thinking of using "s/2.

Lasty, how do I take care of case sensitivity, so it doesn't not matter whether they put it in uppercase or lowercase

Any help is gratefully received. Thank you, Joel

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
What version of Excel are you using?

I suggest that you update your Account details (or click your user name at the top right of the forum) so helpers always know what Excel version(s) & platform(s) you are using as the best solution often varies by version. (Don’t forget to scroll down & ‘Save’)

Countifs is not case sensitive (very few functions are), so that's not a problem.
You can denote the half day any way you like (other than using a lower case s)

If you want it combined,

=COUNTIFS(B27:AL27, "S") +(COUNTIFS(B27:AL27, "S/2")/2)
