Good morrow. I normally use excel on a mac. As I need to share files with someone using a Windows computer I have uploaded the necessary files into one drive (which I have never used before). When I try to open the said files in Windows i get the message +This workbook couldn't be opened because the file format may not be matching with the file extension". Having said that I have tried opening them on my Mac and get the same result. I did notice that some of the files are prefaced with ~$ and won't open, whereas those that aren't will open!!

Can anyone please provide me with any enlightenment on a remedy please?

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
thats the lock file and not the main file , seen often in windows , when hidden files are unhidden

i use dropbox & one drive to do exactly the same, and often to link to this forum

for example here, XLSX version from office 365

created on a MAC excel 365
anyone should be able to open, regardless of the operating system , windows or Mac
for old versions of excel - may need to save as XLS and not XLSX
