My 300kb Excel 2007 spreadsheet won't calculate simple formulae like sums, additions and subtractions. The spreadsheet also has CSEs, sumproducts, iferrors, maxifs, etc.

My setup:
Computer: Compaq laptop NC8430
CPU: intel core duo, 2 ghz, 3gb RAM
OS: XP service pack 3
Excel: 2007

I have tried both manual (F9) and automatic calculation, opening and closing the spreadsheet, opening and closing excel, and re-booting my computer. None of this has any effect.

There are no circular references.

The only thing that works is if I edit the formula with F2-enter.

Needless to say, this is very maddening...has anyone run into this problem?

Is there only a limited number of 'offending cells'?

What did you do to rectify the problem last time?

As far as I can tell, it is only cells whose value should change based on dependence on another cell that changed.

For example if cell A1=2, A2=2, and A3=A1+A2, then A3 should equal 4. Right? Then if I change A1 to 3, A3 still equals 4....instead of 5.

I am not making this up...

I know you're not making this up :)

I've seen this too ... but when I try to dig down to find the cause, all of sudden things start working .... weird. You don't have any of the add-ins that I thought might have caused problems, by the way.

Thanks just the same....so far today I haven't had any problems, knock on wood.
