I have a personal add-in module with dozens (maybe hundreds) of macros and UDFs. A few of them were not well designed originally. I want to improve them, but if I change the syntax or the defaults, I could cause sheets that use the old form to malfunction. But finding all those calls so I could update them is a problem.

I just found a solution. MythicSoft makes a product called FileLocator. They have a free 30-day trial. I downloaded and installed it. It takes a little getting used to but seems to work. I was able to find all of the uses (as far as I can tell) of one of my UDFs and do the conversion.

The complete product is FileLocator Pro. It has 3 licenses: Standard $60, Technician $108, Floating $156. I got the Standard. I have no idea what the others are. The licenses include free major upgrades for one year and free minor upgrades forever.

They also have a Lite version with a Free option (no support) and a $10 option with support. It has quite a few features disabled.

They have another product called Agent Ransack. It is my understanding that it is what FileLocator was originally called. I believe it is being discontinued.

Mythicsoft – Search software for professionals
Pro License – Purchase – Mythicsoft
FileLocator Pro – Information – Mythicsoft

Note: I have no relationship with MythicSoft other than one license for FileLocator Pro.

Note: I rounded all prices up $0.05 to the nearest dollar ($59.95 -> $60) to eliminate the deceptive marketing practice of trying to fool buyers into thinking it cost less than it really does.
