if question to determine date older then 1900 - formula working without if

hello

I work with the dutch excel, and i DO HAVE a perfect formula to calculate dates older then january 1 1900...

however:
nowhere i find a good method to put in my long formula to determine if a date in a cell is an old date or not...

the columns q6 birth and am6 death are date layout cells (special: " dd.mm.jjjj ")
i'm not afraid to use a help column, but how can i find a way to show excel the dates older then 1900 ?

As long as cell Q6 is a valid date, this formula will tell you if the date in cell Q6 is Before 01/01/1900 or After (or same as year):

=IFERROR(IF(YEAR(Q6)>=1900,"After"),"Before")

iserror I knew... iferror (dutch: als.fout) i did not know that one !!! thank you, it helps perfectly well !!! now my one (yes just one) person born in 1888 has a decent
row in excel, showing dates as it should !
