Can anyone give me basic instructions to do the following. Someone who left my department set up and old macro I need to be able to recreate.

I want to double click into any cell and have a dialogue box with a few drop downs so the cell can be completed in a very specific way.

I want each cell to show
SHIFT
ROOM NUMBER
COURSE CODE
DAY NUMBER

I also want the course code and day number in bold if at all possible

Excel Facts

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
Hi there,
I got 2 questions in response:
  • does this mean that the old macro is completely lost?
  • What code did you come up with yourself? -> If the answer is "none, I can't/don't want to do VBA": hire a programmer
Your code probably sits in the worksheet (ALT+F11 -> check worksheet) and looks something like this:
VBA Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean)
'Do something here
End Sub
Cheers,
Koen
