Hi there. A nice easy one that I've been grappling with for a couple of days. I am looking to sum a number of cells, but in doing so multiply each cell by its neighbour. This is a shortened version of what I am seeking to achieve, though the spreadsheet is longer:

=SUM(B2*A2+SUM(B3*A3+SUM(B4*A4)))

Is there a short hand way to do this?

Thank you

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
Try
Excel Formula:
=SUMPRODUCT(A2:A4*B2:B4)
( if the cells contain numbers - picture unreadable)

Hi, I'd recommend using SUMPRODUCT() in it's native form, it is after all what its designed for.

Excel Formula:
=SUMPRODUCT(A2:A4,B2:B4)
