How do I fill blanks with the entry in the cell above?

I have a table with hundreds of blanks. I know there's a way using Go To -Special to fill them all with the value the cell above but I cant remember it exactly. I've searched here but I cannot find anything.

Can anyone help me out?

Is this what you mean?

  1. Select the column with the blanks.
  2. Goto Edit>Goto...Special and select blanks.
  3. Goto the formula bar, enter =A1 (or whatever the first cell with data is) and then press CTRL+ENTER.
  4. Select the column, copy and paste special values.

Hi

Select the range and go Edit>Goto>Special and check Blanks and hit OK.

Then type '=' (without the quotes) and press the Up cursor key and confirm with Ctrl+Enter.

This will insert a formula in each blank cell pointing to the cell above. You'll have to copy and paste values to fix the results.
