Combining HLookup and VLookup?

I have a table of data, with unique rows and unique columns.

I need to be able to select a specific cell, if I provide the row and column specification. (Sort of a combination of Hlookup and Vlookup?) I need an answer that only provides exact matches.

Example: if Column A had names of people, and Row 1 had months of the year, I want to be able to say "provide the value of Sam in September".

Thanks to anyone who can help with the formula.

Appreciate it. (and Happy Holiday to all)

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
Assuming you have 10 names in A2:A10 and months (in text format, e.g. "Jan") in B1:M1

then try

=INDEX(B2:M10,MATCH("Sam",A2:A10,0),MATCH("Sep",B1:M1,0))

You can replace "Sam" and "Sep" with cell references
