Not exactly. Rows are only limited by the maximum size of the database file (2 GB). Go into Access Help and type 'specification' although each table does have the same field # limit (255) as Excel.
But, because you can have 2048 open tables and each can have 255 fields...if you make it a relational database, your limits are considerably higher (2048*255=522,240) - although you won't really have that many tables for the reasons quoted in the help.
As explanation - the way this works.
Create two tables.
Open up the Relationships, load both tables and then drag one of the fields from the first to the second. This creates a 'relationship' between the data in each table. In instances where the fields are identical (in each table) the records from each can be considered "a single record".
There's more to it than that, but that's the basics.
