How do you format cells to automatically put a plus sign in front of a positive number so that, for example 24 will come out as +24

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.

Try this..

Highlight the cells that you need to format and select 'Cells' on the format menu or Press Ctrl+F1.

Select the 'Number' and and select custom in the category. Type the symbol you require in to the text box labeled as General making sure you ener some figures afterwards otherwise just the symbol will be displayed in your cell.

I hope this answers your question

I tried Ivan's code and found that a negative number did not show at all,
using his suggestion try "+"0;"-"0;0 this displays +24, -24, 0

Yes you are correct, I misinterpreted the Q and assumed the OP only wanted to show + numbers....thanks for checking.
