Sometimes I paste some text into Excel and it turns it into a date like NOV-30 or so.

How do I turn that off? Its really annoying.

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
when i do that it perverses the number into something else like 112330. it doesnt go back to the original. therre should be some option to stop it doing this to begin with but i cant find such an option....

Do you mean that you want it to stay as a date but in a different format? If so, just choose the appropriate date format.

Format the cell as "Text" before entering the data.
