Can't sort in Pivot Table?

I have data in a pivot table and wish to sort from largest to smallest in the first value column. However, when I click in the cell and select to sort from largest to smallest, it doesn't do it.

Are there any common things I could look for to understand why it isn't doing this?

If it helps, I have three 'row labels': Location, SKU, Description. And three value labels: Qty Free, Value Free, Qty Sold.

I have a subtotal by Location.

Any help much appreciated as I am not really sure where to start looking!
Thanks in advance

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
Pivot tables have to be sorted within the table.

Lets say you have a list of customers and account numbers and you want to sort them from Largest to smallest by Turnover.

Customer and account are in the row area i.e. on the left hand side and Customer Turnover is in the data area.

To sort click on the shaded heading for ,say, customer. Right mouse and select field settings from the dropdown box. Now click advanced and on the left hand side you will see "AutoSort Options" which will be set to Manual.

Change the option to Descending, the "using Field" will become active, selct the name of the field with your data in i.e "Turnover". Click Ok and Ok again your table will sort on descending value based upon the values in the Turnover column. Of course if your numbers are negative you have to choose ascending.

Good luck
