=HYPERLINK("MAILTO":N2?subject="&$Z$2"&body="$Z$3")

I'm using an article from another site that shows one can use concatenated fields to create subject body.
But I haven't been able to get it working.

What I want is: 1)Create hyperlink that pops up my outlook based on N2 (this works) 2) Creates the subject from field Z2 3)Creates the body from field Z3.

It seems putting the cells in quotes makes it text but there is no explanation as to how it works.

Thanks for any help.

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
You seem to have your quotes kind of mixed up.

This will open Excel but I don't think it's quite right, to be honest I can't remember the syntax for a hyperlink for email.

=HYPERLINK("MAILTO:"&N2&"?subject="&$Z$2&"body="&$Z$3)

Actually I think I've got it.

=HYPERLINK("MAILTO:"&N2&"&subject="&$Z$2&"&body="&$Z$3)

I used your version and Excel proposed an alternative although I couldn't tell what was different.
I accepted and now it gives a #VALUE error.
N2 is the email address in text.
The 2 Z cells are just short text fields.

Excel shouldn't offer to 'fix' the formula.

What did it actually do? Add a parentheses, a quote?

It suggested an alternative and I couldn't tell what was changed.
But now if I use your original again it automatically goes to #VALUE.
First time: prompt to accept its change. Now: no prompt still error.
I made another column and pasted in and this one took but it doesn't work it opens an email with "&body" in subject.
I was using this site originally Emailing from Excel Using the Hyperlink Function » Bacon Bits:

That formula defintely works for me.

What exactly is in the cells N2, Z2 and Z3?

PS You are using the 2nd fomula I posted?

The hyperlink created by your second formula is this:

MAILTO:person_last@company.com&?subject=&body=

This creates an email to the person with =&body in the subject line.
I'm using Outlook. I'll keep searching thanks.

That means that the cells you are referencing for body and subject in the formula have nothing in them.

I saw exactly the same thing when I had empty cells.
