I been looking for a way to do File Managing VBA and been unsuccessful.

I would like it to do the following:

1. Read a folder including subfolders on a network drive
2. Compare those filename to a database in excel

filename format = Name ####-##-## Name.ts or Name ####-##-##_# Name.ts

3.if there is a match, delete the file from the folder

I would Appreciate the help,

Thanks

Excel Facts

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Forgot one thing
it only has to match the name after the ###-##-##
Your first message shows four # signs before the first dash, this message shows 3... which is it?

Just found another match pattern
- ####-##-## -
Are there really spaces between the leading and trailing dashes and the rest of the pattern?

"- ####-##-## -" yes it has spaces, can you do it this way?
do I need to see if the software writing the file names can do without spaces?

Thanks

Software doesn't like doing spaces. (Mediaportal) Media Center
so space's it is.

Mr. Rothstein
I have a friend that has a business that makes medical equipment. He needs assistants in the IT dept. He needs a code writer
for his machines. He wants to network all of the machines throughout the US and Canada, would you be interested?

Thanks

First off, I do not think you should be posting that question in this forum (see here... MrExcel Message Board FAQ). With that said, second, there are far more qualified people than I who volunteer here to whom your request would be better directed. Third, I have been retired for over 12 years now, but during my working years, none of it involved the practical application of Excel (what I know about Excel, I taught myself, mostly after having retired), so in my view, I should be one of the last people you ask such a question of, not the first. So, to be clear, no, I would not be interested.
