Add new menu but not under Addins

In older Excel versions the added menu name (say "MyMenu") could be defined explicitly at the main level

In Excel 2010 it creates the main level menu AddIns and once you click that, it then shows MyMenu.

I have seen references where it seems to NOT create the AddIns menu but shows MyMenu at the main level directly

Any advice appreciated, thanks

You can't do that with VBA - you have to use XML in the CustomUI part of the workbook. See Ron's site here: Change the Ribbon in Excel 2007 - 2013
