Hi friends, In excel sheet A1 is + (plus) and B1 is - (minus), multiplication in c1 should be - (minus). what is the formula.

Hi Sakurkar,

I am not sure if I understood you well, but if you have a positive number in a1 and a negative number in b1 then in c1 you will have this formula =a1 * b1 and the result will be a negative number.

So if I understand correctly you have "+" in A1 and "-" in B1 and you want "-" in C1? If that is the case you can try this formula:

IF(OR(AND(A1="+",B1="-"),AND(A1="-",B1="+")),"-","+")

=IF(COUNTIF(A1:B1,"-"),"-","+")

Otherwise it will return "-" when both A1 and B1 are "-"
