Hi

I have a number of names and codes combined in excel, that I want to show in another column as the name only, there a formula that can do this eg:

David JamesDJ2 becomes David James

Thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
jpurkiss,

How about something like this?

Excel 2007
AB
1Amanda NewmanAN5Amanda Newman
2Simon SmithSS1Simon Smith
3David JamesDJ2David James
4
Sheet1
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
B1=LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-3)

The formula in cell B1 copied down:
=LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-3)
