I have a sheet that someone else created, and lets say for example there is a formula in A1, you can see it if you unprotect the sheet, but not with protection on. Any ideas how to change that?

Thanks

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Unprotect the sheet and select the protected cells. Go to Format/Cells/Protection tab and uncheck the box next to "hidden."

When you protect the sheet again, you should then be able to see the formulas.

That just means that the creator of the sheet has set the hidden property to true. If you want the formula's to appear,
1. Unprotect the sheet
2. Highlight the range you want to work with
3. Right click on the highlighted area and right click.
4. Select Format Cells from the menu.
5. Click on the protection tab.
6. Click on the hidden checkbox and make sure it is not checked.
7. Turn on the protection.

You should now see the formulas when protected.
