That title sounds very complicated, but it shouldn't be. I've been working on this for hours and cannot get anything to work.

I am organizing data from a basketball tournament, and I have most of the fields populated with functions, but I cannot get this one to work. Once the team scores are filled in, I want L9, L10, and L11 to show the number of the team that won the game (based on the higher score - highlighted in each row)

For instance, L9 should show 51, since team 51 scored 15, and team 50 scored 10.

Please help!!!!

Thank you!

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Welcome to the MrExcel board!

What goes in column L if the scores are equal?

I was trying entirely to hard and for too long using more complicated functions than were necessary.

After a night's sleep, I figured it out.

Formula shown in in L9<g9,h9)) (and="" then="" copied="" down)="" works="" perfectly.
<g9,h9))
<g9,h9))

Ahhhhhh</g9,h9))
</g9,h9))
</g9,h9))>, that feels good LOL :)

That's good that you figured it out yourself. :)

An even simpler formula to do a similar job:

=IF(K9>G9,J9,H9)
