This works
Code:
Shell "C:\Program Files (x86)\XNote Stopwatch\xnsw.exe start", vbNormalFocus

This does not. Help me with this code
Code:
Workbooks.Open Filename:=ActiveWorkbook.Path & "\xnsw.exe start", vbNormalFocus

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
If you use Workbooks.Open, it will open your .exe in Excel which will display a sheet of characters. If your first code worked, why do you want it changed? What are you trying to achieve?

If you want to use ActiveWorkbook.Path, try something like this...

Code:
Sub test()
    CreateObject("Wscript.Shell").Exec (ActiveWorkbook.Path & "\xnsw.exe start")
End Sub
