Hi, I have a table and would like to automatically add a consecutive number to the first column (A) each time a new row is created. Is this possible, thank you.

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
You can try =IFERROR(A1+1,1) on A2, then overwrite the whole column with this formula. Should work if you have headers.

Hi, the only issue I see with this is that if I add a row in the futrure or remove one, the numbers will reassign. (I should have stated I need the numbers to be stamped, so they do not change once allocated to the row). Thank you for the help.

Then you will need to work with the worksheet_change event and write some VBA. I'm pretty sure a formula can't modify the content of a cell "statically".
